January 2008

The New Hampshire Arabian Horse Association held our annual Year End Awards banquet on January 19th at Makris Lobster and Steakhouse in Loudon. Our award winners were given ribbons and trophies by Tally Ho, SmartPakEquine.com and Schneider’s Tack. We’d also like to thank the Equine Journal for donating a beautiful Turtleneck turnout sheet for our club raffle. You may view our entire list of award winners at 2007 Year-End Awards Results.

Special recognition went to our High Point winners: Cheryl Lane-Caron in our Professional division, Jennifer Roberts in our Amateur division and Lori Hassel in our Junior division. Congratulations to these winners as they racked up points throughout the year in both rated and non-rated shows.

We also awarded two Versatility awards for horses that showed talent in multiple disciplines. Our AHA-recognized division winner was Mister Do Da, owned and shown by Katherine Speer. “Diesel” was shown in seven different divisions throughout the year and even won a few Regional Championships, Reserves and Top 5s! Our non-AHA division winner was Ody’s Mr. May owned and shown by Carolyn Beard. “Mr. May” is a great all around horse participating in seven different divisions as well as trail riding, and even a bit of cow work! These two horses are a great example of why we love our Arabian horses – they are so versatile, and usually willing to do anything we ask! Congratulations Diesel and Mr. May!

Our Year End Awards program will continue to expand in 2008. We have lined up a sponsor for a “Horse of the Year” award, which will prove to be a very coveted award….stay tuned and watch our website for more details on this new award. We are also looking for people to sponsor perpetual awards. If you have a special horse you’d like memorialized, or just want to sponsor an award, please contact . Please continue to watch your email and the website for updates to the program, including some minor rule changes.

In other news, our horse show committee has been meeting to begin planning our horse show for 2008! We have added back some classes that were requested last year, including Trail. We are accepting sponsors for the show. Continue to watch the website for even more information. Thank you all for your continued feedback and support.
